Nooticle
Type: Hypothetical fundamental particle (or field quantum) of consciousness — the proposed fifth-force carrier that Nootics was designed to detect. Era: Theorised by ~2641 A.L.; undetected as of Ch. 03’s end.
Summary
The nooticle is the concrete physical object that, if it exists, would make Mentalic Ontology a science rather than a philosophy. The theory: every physical interaction known to the Galactic Human Empire’s physicists involves one of four force-carriers; the nooticle would be the fifth, coupling specifically to the pattern-structure of mind. Finding it would collapse consciousness, Panpsychism, and Nootics into a single verified branch of physics — the book’s title concept of The Fifth Science.
The predicted detection regime is 5 churtens of beam energy — more than any existing accelerator can reach. K. Pasternak, under The First Wanderer’s guidance, orders construction of a collider physically larger than the Aerth-Luna diameter to hit this regime. The collider is primed to 4.3 churtens when Evie shuts it down; the nooticle is never observed on-page.

Open questions
- Does the nooticle exist in-universe? The story is deliberately silent — Ch. 03 ends before detection. Later stories may resolve this.
- Would detecting the nooticle confirm that wanderers are physically real, or is it a step short?
