Narrative War

When: 183–194 A.L. (11 years). Where: Aerth. Participants: Unstated. The Democratic Bulgaric Republic is one of several Aerth states that expand as a result of the war’s outcome.

Summary

An eleven-year Aerth-side conflict. Ends in 194 A.L., after which several existing Aerth states — including the Democratic Bulgaric Republic — expand. The war’s evocative name (“Narrative”) is unexplained in the Timeline; it may refer to information warfare, memetic conflict, or a dispute over historical interpretation, but nothing in the Timeline pins down the meaning.

The war’s most important downstream consequence is the post-war strengthening of the Democratic Bulgaric Republic, which is the state that will later launch Geo Milev and found the Galactic Human Empire. Without the 194 A.L. expansion, the 445 A.L. launch arguably doesn’t have a polity big enough to pull it off.

Consequences

  • Post-war expansion of several Aerth states.
  • Democratic Bulgaric Republic emerges larger — arguably the seed of its later galactic role.
  • 7 years later, the United Nations grants Mechanical Intelligence civil rights (201 A.L.) — chronologically close enough that it’s worth asking whether the rights grant is a post-war peace dividend.

Open questions

  • What is “narrative” about this war? The name is the most evocative unresolved thread in the Timeline.
  • Who fought whom?
